Toasted Hazelnuts

Toasted Hazelnuts are pretty delicious bits and an essential ingredient in the Giada's Chocolate Chip Cookies with Hazelnuts recipe.

Toast hazelnuts: preheat your oven to 400 F. Spread hazelnuts out on a cookie sheet and bake for 5-10 minutes. Do not blacken.

To remove the skins, wait until the hazelnuts cool. Then pick up handfuls and rub your hands together. The friction will encourage the skin to fall off.

Hey! Love, love, love your site. I'm not a big eater, and I'm far from a foodie, so I appreciate your very simple (yet not boring!) recipes.

I was raised surrounded by meat and potatos, so your dishes sometimes run on the "fancy" side compared to what we normally shovel down. Have you got any veggie meals that would suit a midwesterner and her meat-eating spouse?

Thanks for the great photos, too, that makes all the difference in recipe sites. Yours is currently the only one I even read!

DB,

Thanks so much for your support and for reading Vegetarian Foodie!

I too love a simple yet delicious meal-I will have a look in my recipe scribbles and see what I can come up with especially for you and your spouse!

Happy New Year!
